Let’s start with the title. Se7en . Not Seven . Not Seven (1995) . The stylization alone—that aggressive, angular numeral replacing the soft curves of a letter—told you everything you needed to know before the first raindrop hit the pavement. This wasn’t your dad’s serial killer thriller. This was something colder. Something digital before digital had a look.

Instagram, for all its curated rain and box memes, is also a system. It promises connection and delivers comparison. It promises truth and delivers a highlight reel. We scroll through it, often in the rain (metaphorically), saying Se7en, ig —this is just how it is now. se7en ig

Se7en is a movie about the failure of systems. The police system. The justice system. The city. The self. And yet, it ends not with a bang or a whimper, but with a choice. Somerset chooses to stay. Mills chooses to pull the trigger. The audience chooses to feel sick and then go home.
