It’s glorious. And in high definition, every shattered ice crystal is accounted for. HD doesn’t just clarify beauty; it exposes warts. The much-maligned CGI surfing scene (where Bond rides a tidal wave generated by a melting glacier) has aged poorly. The digital water lacks weight, and Brosnan’s green-screen compositing is distractingly obvious. Similarly, the final fight inside a falling cargo plane—while ambitious—features backgrounds that look like a PlayStation 2 cutscene.
