Outside, the rest of the world plays soccer. Kids slide in the mud, shouting with raw joy. Coaches scream tactics. Parents cheer. But inside Nagi’s head, there is only white noise. Nagi looks at the helicopter

“Nagi! You came.”

“A genius who doesn’t care,” he whispers. “Let’s see how long that lasts when I starve him of everything but the ball.” hands in his pockets
