The sound design is the unsung hero. The menu music is a melancholic piano piece (composed by Dynamedion) that perfectly captures the loneliness of a flooded Earth. The Tycoon industrial zones hum with the sound of stamping metal, while Eco zones are filled with the gentle trickle of water and distant seabird calls. At launch, Anno 2070 was infamous for its aggressive "always-online" DRM (Digital Rights Management) via Ubisoft’s Uplay launcher. If your internet blinked, you lost progress.
